Summary of how I benefited from ICS

Being part of the placement benefited me a lot. The programme was very rich in knowledge and practical application of knowledge in the community that I live in. It gave me the chance to apply theoretical knowledge into practise. This taught me a lot as I could witness for myself first-hand information on how the local people in my area were benefiting from the programme. In the ICS programme I was in cycle 8 Urban Team.  I worked with children from different backgrounds and various communities in Sakubva, Mutare City Centre and those from high density suburbs. The programme boosted my confidence which was very low and from it I learnt presentation skills and on how I could address a large gathering. Through the ICS initiative I also learned how to relate with volunteers from different backgrounds. This equipped me with knowledge about their culture and at the same time they also taught me very useful computer skills such as Microsoft Excel.

Summary of Action At Home plan

I am going to do an action at home on the International Day of Forest on 21 March 2016. Forests are of great importance in the environment that we live in. Forests provide a wide range of benefits to wild life and mankind. They act as a habitat to wild life and also provide employment creation for the people through wood processing. Through my Action At Home I am going to make people in the community that I live become aware of the importance of forest. This is going to be achieved through distribution of brochures. I am going to be doing my action at home in conjunction with the Environmental Management Agency (EMA).
