After finishing our main project we decided to start a vegetable patch in the church grounds and a playground in the La Sabanita school as a prize for the enormous amount of bottles that the students had collected during the previous weeks.
This was a great success. It was marvelous to see the children bringing a massive number of bottles and walking around the streets to collect even more. This also contributed to the cleaning of the community and helped them understand the theme of recycling, that to live cleanly is to live healthily. It’s evident that we have been accepted by the community!
After finishing the vegetable patches the volunteers have started to prepare a food fair, using recipes that contain all the vegetables we have planted in the previous and current cycle (tomatoes, chili peppers etc.) to give more information on how to better use the plants. We are also giving out manuals on how to grow certain plants, make natural fertilisers and related subjects so that our project has a long-term sustainability.
In summary, our vegetable patch in the church is progressing nicely, and to finish it completely we only need to plant the seeds, trusting in God we hope to obtain better results. We feel happy and satisfied with our work as we say goodbye to this week and we thank you for your attention.

Semana de preparación de área de juegos para niños y huerto en la iglesia
Después de terminar nuestro proyecto principal decidimos iniciar un huerto en la iglesia y el área de juego en la escuela de la Sabanita como premio por reciclar en el concurso de botellas que llevamos a cabo en cada uno de los grados de la escuela, logrando hacer a cada grado competir para obtener una mayor cantidad de botellas.
Esta actividad fue un gran éxito. Fue maravilloso ver a los niños llevar grandes cantidades de botellas y andar por las calles para obtener mayores cantidades de botellas y de esta manera contribuyeron a la limpieza de su comunidad y comprendieron bien el sentido del reciclaje, pues vivir limpio es vivir sano y este proyecto ha sido un gran éxito. Es evidente la aceptación que hemos tenido por parte de las personas de la comunidad.
Luego de terminar los huertos las/os voluntarias y voluntarios hemos preparado una feria alimenticia con todos los vegetales que sembramos en los huertos del ciclo anterior y actual para darle una mayor información a las familias para el buen uso de las plantas y también darle algunos manuales para conservar y asegurar la sostenibilidad de nuestro proyecto a largo plazo.
En síntesis, nuestro huerto en la iglesia marcha con buen ritmo pues para terminarlo por completo solo nos faltara sembrar las diferentes semillas, confiando en Dios esperamos obtener los mejores resultados, felices y satisfechos de nuestra semana de trabajo nos despedimos y agradecemos su atención.
