In summary, the objective of the mid-term review meeting was more than just a simple opportunity to review the progress of the work done in La Sabanita by group 1 and in the Masaya Volcano National Park, by group 2. We also met to take on board new instructions from our Group Leaders, and put forward our ideas as volunteers. The event was facilitated in such a way that we felt confident in suggesting ideas in the way our Group Leaders do things, as well as have the chance to speak with the Progressio staff in a group setting, and at the same time they worked hard to make it feel very personable. We also interacted with our colleagues from group 2, in order to share our plans for the activities we were going to carry out in the second part of the cycle in La Sabanita.
It was a good experience to be able to link the work we have accomplished with the fun moments we have had together as a team. This served to increase my enthusiasm for what’s to come and I hope it did the same for the other volunteers.
The first day (Wednesday), I felt like a chance to relax in relation to the work conditions in La Sabanita, feeling the same sensation that I did when we met for the first time in IPADE, Managua. With the same routine and comfort that they offered us, but with the difference this time being that both groups have been working in an integrated way and that attention could be focused on the project work we had undertaken, and we were able to initiate proceedings with more fluidity, well at least that’s what I think.
Day 2 (Thursday), the remaining activities took place, we also celebrated Bosco’s birthday, one of the team facilitators. Awards were given to five volunteers in different categories related to personal endeavour and their contributions to their respective teams. As part of a session on activism, and specifically for International Youth Day, we recomposed the famous tune “Eye of the Tiger”, with lyrics promoting civil participation among young people. We did this in less than half an hour. The end result was good, and this included getting the message, rhythm and the group choreography right.

Reunión de medio ciclo de Progressio ICS
En resumen, el objetivo de este encuentro fue más allá de solo el simple hecho para repasar el resultado de todo el trabajo que se ha establecido en La Sabanita por el grupo 1 y en el Parque Nacional Volcán Masaya por el grupo 2. Nos reunimos para conocer nuevas instrucciones por los líderes y manifestar nuestras ideas como voluntarios. Se facilitó la manera de dar aportes al desempeño de nuestros líderes y conversar con los miembros del staff de una manera muy grupal y a la misma vez muy personal. Interactuamos con los compañeros del grupo 2 para dar a conocer las actividades que vamos a realizar en La Sabanita. Hubo mucho compañerismo y paciencia para ambos grupos a pesar del poco tiempo que tuvimos.
Fue buena la experiencia para conectar el trabajo del proyecto con los buenos momentos entre voluntarios, eso incrementa mi entusiasmo y espero también para los demás.
El día miércoles (día 1 de Agosto) sentí como una especie de relajamiento total como para descansar un poco de las condiciones de trabajo que tenemos en La Sabanita, sintiendo la misma sensación como cuando nos reunimos en IPADE, Managua. Con la misma rutina y la comodidad que nos ofrecían, pero ahora con la diferencia que ambos grupos ya estábamos con el trabajo tan integrados a nosotros mismos que el desarrollo de nuestra percepción giraba en torno al proyecto eso nos permitió actuar con mucha fluidez y nos desenvolvimos sin dificultad, eso es lo que pienso yo.
El día jueves (día 2 de Agosto) expusieron los grupos restantes, y se celebró también el cumpleaños de Bosco (facilitador del grupo 2) y se premiaron a cinco voluntarios en diferentes categorías, en el marco de un taller sobre activismo, vinculado al Día Internacional de la Juventud, modificamos la canción “Eye of the Tiger” para sustituirla con una letra que creamos en menos de media hora con resultados muy positivos por su mensaje, ritmo y coreografía del grupo.
