Environment Africa was set up in 1990 in order to generate action towards the protection, management and sustainable use of natural resources for development. The organisation works through the creation of strategic alliances at local, national, regional and international levels. With a regional office in Harare, Zimbabwe, Environment Africa also operates in Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia.
Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP): Established during the war of liberation in Zimbabwe to address matters of justice and peace, particularly in relation to how Zimbabweans were being affected by the effects of the war, today its key programmes include: Peace Building and Conflict Transformation; Economic and Trade Justice; Good Governance and Human Rights Awareness and Social Teachings of the Church (including Voter/Public Education).
DATH, the Disability HIV and AIDS Trust of Zimbabwe, focuses on HIV and AIDS prevention among visually and hearing impaired person’s, who are usually left out of awareness and prevention campaigns in the region.
THAMASO, The HIV and AIDS Management and Support Organisation in Zimbabwe, is an AIDS Service Organisation that seeks to help reduce the spread and impact of HIV, Tuberculosis and other opportunistic infections, through community-based initiatives. The organisation targets high risk groups such as young people, and people living with and affected by HIV, to help them to improve their communication skills, which can in time enhance behaviour change.
UDACIZA (Union for the Development of Apostolic Churches in Zimbabwe and Africa) is a network of faith based organisations working on prevention of HIV/AIDS and Gender based violence.
Zimbabwe AIDS Network (ZAN) is an umbrella organisation comprising HIV service organisations, private sector companies, faith-based organisations and educational institutions. It provides a platform for national networking and coordination on responses to HIV and AIDS. Widely recognised nationally and internationally, its activities seek to improve the quality of HIV and AIDS services, build the capacity of member organisations, promote information exchange and encourage involvement in key advocacy issues.
Zimbabwe AIDS Prevention and Support Organisation (ZAPSO) focusses on the needs and the gap area of reducing the incidence of HIV and AIDS in workplaces and communities in Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe Association for Crime Prevention and Rehabilitation of the Offender (ZACRO) was founded in 1923 as the Prison Aid Society. Its mission is to prevent crime and promote the rehabilitation and re-integration of offenders in order to promote a peaceful society, whilst advocating for justice in Zimbabwean prisons. The organisation works countrywide through branch networks of volunteers, implementing projects involving advocacy, campaigning, monitoring, surveillance and humanitarian aid.
Zimbabwe National Council for the Welfare of Children (ZNCWC) is the umbrella body of the child rights sector. Its key mandate is to coordinate the sector, spearhead all lobbying and advocacy for children’s rights, build the capacity of the sector in best practices and ensure that players in the sector abide by best practice. Given its wide membership base, ZNCWC is well positioned to carry out national-level advocacy on child rights and other issues relating to children.
